Welcome to My Cooking Hut – a blog that brings you fresh, simple, healthy and quick Asian & French cooking with beautiful food photography. There is also a tremendous amount of captivating travel photography. Leemei is the person behind the scene who has been authoring this blog since 2007.

She is passionate about food, not only eating but making them too. She was born in Malaysia and spent most of her years there before she flew off to Australia to complete her degree. After graduated, she spent 3 years in Kuala Lumpur before quitting her job to travel and work around Europe, where she finally based in London.

She spent a lot of her time since young in the kitchen watching her mother and aunties cooking. She loved to invite her friends to share the dishes that she learnt and made. Her attentions to details and great determination have naturally led her to be well equipped with essential cooking knowledge and skills.
Her upbringing in a multicultural society has great influence in her cooking. Just like any kids, she was pretty quick in picking up new things. It was very important to learn basic spices and raw ingredients in an Asian kitchen. Besides, it is almost compulsory to know how to do proper stir-frying and steaming. Also, to master different cutting and chopping styles, which determines the overall look, feel and taste of the dishes.

Her style of cooking has always been fresh, practical, simple, healthy and delicious. Her travel experiences have also greatly inspired her in creating new recipes. Her world of food became even more exciting after she met her now partner, Arnaud. The next stage of her food journey started, which has opened up the horizon of her food experience. She cooks Asian, Modern French and Franco-Asian food.

She is a freelance recipe contributor, food stylist and photographer. She has excellent skills and knowledge in food photography and styling; providing food photography services to individuals and organisations in the industry. Her portfolio can be found on Leemei Tan Photography.
