Me too! My grandmother was the first one that showed me to do that and I couldn't imagine a chocolate chip cookie without it.

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 tsps baking powder
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tbs vanilla
12 ozs chocolate chips
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Preparation

Line a 12 inch pizza pan with waxed paper. Cream together butter and shortening. Add sugars and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well until evenly mixed. Sift together flour and baking soda. Use a wooden spoon to stir into butter mixture. Stir in chips.

Scoop batter into pizza pan and use a knife or your hands to spread mixture to within 1 1/2 inches of the sides of the pan. Cover with plastic wrap and chill one hour. Remove wrap and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and cool in pan.
