Lea Michele Has a Meatball Meltdown on Glee Set

October 21, 2011

Lasagna may be Lea Michele's favorite vegan food, but the "Glee" star had a major diva moment during filming over meatballs. The kids were shooting a food fight scene, and according to a source, "Everyone was supposed to throw spaghetti with meatballs, salad and other assorted foods at each other. Lea pitched a fit, wanting no part of it. She is a vegan and a strong believer in not eating any meat products. The thought of being hit by meatballs grossed her out, so she was adamant that absolutely none be thrown her way."

"Glee" producers accommodated Lea Michele's meatball meltdown, instructing the cast and extras to throw salad at Michele instead and threatening to kick people off the set who couldn't comply. Vegans, would you have reacted in the same way Michele did?

I am not vegan, but I will say that the idea of using animal meat to throw at people and all over the place seems pretty wastful and disrespectful. If I was a vegan, I probably will not want to be pelted with meat. It's important to express your concerns and it's great when others can be understanding.

Still, no matter what, real food ought not be wasted.

i could understand her hate for animals being eaten. but shes an actress. the job for being an actress is to just do what u need to do! u cant be so picky about things that just might only happen once, plus they are paying her alot of money to make the show so shes getting payed if they were just throwing it at her becuz they feel like it, i can understand her angry. but shes being picky and dramatic!

I think she overreacted. Instead of giving into her temper tantrum and going so far as to threaten to kick people off the set if they couldn't comply with the demand only to throw salad at her, they either should have just cut her out of the scene or what they should have done...tell her to do her job or find another one.

The producers are going to create a monster if continue to allow her to act like a diva whenever there is a scene she doesn't want to do.
