The Pear Bureau Northwest Welcomes IFBC Attendees to the City of Roses!

pears on table

Brittany and Cristie of Pear Bureau Northwest are looking forward to welcoming the 2012 International Food Bloggers Conference to the City of Roses in just a couple of weeks! In addition to roses, dozens of microbrews, and an impressive food scene, Portland is also home to the pear headquarters of the Pacific Northwest. The Pear Bureau is a nonprofit marketing organization that promotes the pear crop on behalf of growers in Oregon and Washington, who grow 84% of the country’s fresh pears! You’ll find these pears at your local grocer when in season—just look for the USA Pears logo.

Pear Bureau

Besides publishing The Pear Dish, a blog on all things pear, Cristie and Brittany have worked with bloggers to develop new recipes and marketing material, as well as to engage readers and consumers with exciting contests and cook-offs. If you’re interested in connecting with these ex-pearts, be sure to visit their booth at the Gourmet Fair on Friday night. Not only will you have the chance to rub elbows with some pear nerds, you can also expect a savory spin on dessert and some fruity fun!

Until then, check ‘em out at www.usapears.org. You can also find USA Pears online on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Pinterest.
