Pierre LePage

Born and raised in Quebec, I began my culinary career at the age of 15 in the career that would become my life-long passion.

In 1994 I relocated to Yellowknife and became Chef for the Yellowknife Inn, Territorial Catering, and L’Atitudes Restaurant. Over the past fifteen years I have opened a Jazz & Blues bar and restaurant, a bistro/bar, a fine dinning restaurant, a deli/kitchen store and work as a Food Service Consultant. I have travelled to over 32 countries and five continents to learn about the foods and cultures of the world.

My businesses and I have won numerous awards and distinctions; including the following:
• Silver Cold Platter, Singapore
• Silver Hot Cuisine Team, Frankfurt
• Gold Individual Hot Cuisine, Chicago
• Awarded Canada Cup and Nations Cup Hot Cuisine Team, in Quebec City. I represented the Northwest Territories, and prepared northern country foods. This competition raised the profile of the Northwest Territories, and demonstrated that we could compete and win on an international level
• Mention in the 2004 International Who’s Who of Chefs

• 2005 Laureate of PME: I was selected to receive this award based on my continued success as a French Speaking Canadian operating a small/medium tourist industry business outside of Quebec.
• Top 10 Restaurants in Canada, Bonne Appetit, 2004
• Awards of Excellence, Wine Spectator, 2002 through 2008
• Awards of Excellence Wine Enthusiasm 2006 through 2008

• Technical Chair of Skills Canada NWT/NU between 2002 and 2005 - I coordinated the program and provided guidance and expertise to students in local high schools competing in national restaurant service contests. Through my efforts I assisted the Northwest Territories/Nunavut team in winning their first gold and silver medals.
