I love soft boiled eggs but am never quite sure how long to cook them. I like the whites cooked, but the yolk still runny. Any tips?

For a large egg straight out of the refrigerator, pop it in boiling water and start timing. Let it cook for exactly 6 minutes, 40 seconds. For an extra-large egg, 7 min., 40 seconds; a medium-sized egg: 5 min, 10 seconds.
If your egg is already room temperature, here are the cook times:
Medium: 4 min, 30 seconds.
Large: 6 minutes
XL: 7
Again, these times are for cooked whites and runny yolks.
