cup olive oil

clv garlic -- crushed

cups onion -- chopped

pounds ground beef

can tomatoes

tablespoons salt

4

bay leaves

can (6 oz.) cans tomato paste

Step 1

Heat olive oil in saucepan. Add garlic, onion, and ground beef and brown lightly. Add tomatoes, salt, bay leaves and tomato paste. Simmer, covered, 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until thickened and reduced. Remove bay leaves and use or freeze* for future use.

Step 2

*Freeze in family-portioned containers. Simply pop frozen portion in the microwave or in a pan and heat.

Step 3

I like to add mushrooms and green peppers just before heating.

Step 4

May be used with spaghetti (prepared according to directions)

Step 5

Or to top prepared chicken breasts, veal, sausage, etc.
