Combine flour, cheese, salt
, and garlic powder. Stir
in water, Crisco, and egg; beat
until smooth. Pat mushrooms dry.
Dip into batter. Fry
few at a time in deep oil heated
to 365 degrees until golden (about 3 minutes). Drain on paper towels. Lightly salt. Serve. Sour cream
is a good dip for these.
