The Brooklyn Flea is a most interesting market. It goes way beyond visions of old shoes, carpets, and cheap perfumes. It's an eclectic blend of a thrift, art and hardware store with a sprinkling of a yard sale vibe. Now they are launching Smorgasburg, which happens to be a mecca for locally crafted food and drink. Starting May 21, this event will happen every Saturday, and there's something for everyone; from carnivore to vegan.
Homemade, pickled, fermented, sprouted, ethnic, raw, artisan, and crafted with love are some key words to describe this total foodie extravaganza. In addition to the 100+ food vendors, there will also be about 20 farmers from the Grow NYC Greenmarkets. Bring your little ones too! There will be an interactive art-inspired play area for the kiddies. The best part, it's right on the water with a view of the famous Manhattan skyline.
