A nicoise salad [nee-SWAHZ] , (a la) In French meaning " as prepared in Nice," Typically contains blanched haricots verts (French green beans), onions, tuna, hard-cooked eggs, herbs, tomatoes, black olives, garlic and anchovies. Sometimes boiled new potaoes. I've enjoyed this salad with canned tuna (packed in oil is great). As well as, a nice piece of Ahi Tuna grilled rare. A simple herb vinaigrette with a freshly pressed clove of garlic. Have fun with it! Make it your own. The salad greens are up to you.
A note for presentation; It's always nice to toss the greens and most of the ingredients separately with the vinaigrette, and compose your salad with the tuna on top and the halved eggs around the plate.
