[edit] Preparation
Step 1 |
For a great homemade Honey Barbecue Sauce, combine the following ingredients in a large saucepan: 2 pints vinegar, 16 oz. ketchup, 16 oz. French Dressing, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 Tbs. lemon juice, 1 Tbs. ground red pepper, 1 Tbs. ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1/2 cup honey. Simmer on low heat until the sauce is thick and creamy. As an option, add 1/2 tablespoon liquid smoke during the last 30 minutes of cooking. |
Step 2 |
Mix the pork, garlic, and onion into a medium bowl. Crumble into a skillet and cook over medium heat until pork is cooked. Drain oil from pan and discard. Stir in the honey barbecue sauce and simmer for about 15 minutes. |
Step 3 |
When ready to serve, toast the buns and spread honey on the inside of each. Spoon pork mixture onto the buns and serve. |
